Jowar Puri is a quick and super tasty recipe. This dish is more popular in rural areas of North Karnataka.  It is called as Jolad Vadi also. But it is in the shape of Puri. These Vadi are prepared on festival days. This recipe is instant to cook, it can be prepared as morning breakfast or with meals. These Puris are enjoyed with dry Coconut Chutney and Yogurt (curd).

Ingredients

  • Jowar flour [1 cup] 

  • Wheat flour [¼ cup] 

  • Urad flour [¼ cup]

  • Chickpeas flour [3 tbsp]

  • Curry leaves [4-5] 

  • Coriander leaves [1 tbsp] 

  • Green chilies [according to your required spice level] 

  • Salt as per taste Chili powder [1.5 tsp] 

  • Water to knead the dough

  • Sesame seeds [2 tbsp] 

  • Oil for frying 

Directions

  • In a bowl, add in jowar flour, wheat flour,urad flour (take ¼ cup urad dal dry roast until you get a nice aroma and powder it in a blender) and besan/chickpea flour and mix.

  • Prepare a masala paste by adding curry leaves, coriander leaves, green chillies and a tablespoon of water in a blender.

  • Add the masala paste, salt as per taste and chilli powder to the flour mix and mix everything together.

  • Prepare a stiff dough by adding hot water and keep it aside for an hour.

  • Pinch the dough and make lemon sized balls from the dough.

  • Spread the dough with fingers and shape them like pooris by applying some oil to your fingers. You can also add sesame seeds while spreading the dough.

  • Heat enough oil in a frying pan and fry all the prepared pooris.

  • Enjoy this with your favourite chutney. It is traditionally enjoyed with some peanut chutney and yoghurt.
